PKMidiCron is an app that listens to midi messages and can fire off programs, scripts, or other midi messages. This is modeled after the “cron” unix utility. It also comes with a very good midi simulator which can be used to test midi hardware, make midi mappings in software like Ableton Live, and even test your setup.
I developed PKMidiCron because I needed a way to remote-control my headless Ableton Live pedalboard. I use my FCB-1010 (midi foot pedal) to load sets, restart various apps, restart the computer, etc.
As of today there is no manual or tutorial video, but if you have any questions please feel free to email me at patrickkidd at gmail dot com.
And if you enjoy PKMidiCron and wish for others to use it to, please donate!
